Kenaf, Deccan hemp or Hibiscus cannabinus is a plant of the family Malvaceae.
Its thorny stems can be up to 2 m tall.
Deccan hemp is found mainly in the humid tropics, Southeast Asia, Central America and the tropical regions of Africa.
Kenaf flowers can be white or pink.
Deccan hemp seeds are gray and triangular in shape.

Using the fibers extracted from the stems of Hibiscus cannabinus (like that of hemp), we get bags of jute.
Fiber paper pulp is also produced.
Kenaf is nowadays called the plant of the future.

This plant grown in Egypt, with the blue lotus for over 3000 years.

Start by soaking your Deccan hemp seeds for 24 hours in warm water.
Next, sow your kenaf seeds in 10 x 10 cm pots with fine potting soil, cover them with only 0.5 cm of substrate.
